Rich Dad Poor Dad

An extremely beneficial and insightful book by Robert Kiyosaki.  The main idea is about FINANCIAL LITERACY = FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE

A true tale of two dads one a highly educated professor, the other, an eighth grade dropout. Educated dad left his family with nothing, except maybe some unpaid bills. The dropout later became one of Hawaii's richest men and left his son an empire. One dad would say, I can't afford it while the other, asked, "How can I afford it?"
Rich dad teaches two boys priceless lessons on money, by making them learn through experience. The most important lesson of all is How to Use Your Mind and Time to create personal wealth. Free yourself from the proverbial "rat race". Learn to spot opportunities, create solutions and mind your own business. Learn to make money work for you, and not be its slave.

liza muses:

I'm not big on hospital actually. I hate it. But somehow, this year most of my time had been spent in a hospital. If not me, it'll be one of my children. Since 13th June 2007, my fourth child Muhammad Ihsan has been warded at the Hospital Pusrawi due to a swollen lymph node at the back of his neck. The doctor says it could be anything from simple bacterial infection to (the worst case scenario) lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatics. Ihsan has been having the swelling for nearly a month now, and he's been on antibiotics eversince then, but the swelling had not yet subsided. And the doctor has given another week to wait, if the swelling is still there by next week, Ihsan will have to undergo a biopsy of the swollen lymph node. Hopefully he'll get better by this week.

Pramugara Yang Terlampau and No Backbone

liza muses:

What? What? Again?

I'm not asking that about him anyway. I'd like to ask the girl who got video-recorded doing shameful acts with him: Just what were you thinking? You knew he got a bad record already (his previous Kisah Penghidupan Seorang Pramugara Yang Terlampau was widespread and it created quite a stir and that time). OK, so you were blindly in love with him maybe, but what? What are the reasons that made you agreed to do it????

I just don't understand it. So people say Cinta itu Buta, when you're in love you give everything like Jiwa dan Raga and all... it's bullshit you know. I do love others, but don't we have the responsibility to love ourselves first? Think about it. Think before we act; will the act that we are pursuing cause any bodily, emotional, financial, spiritual harm to ourselves? If it does, why continue? OK, so you've done it, and it was a mistake, can you repair it before it's too late? I'm not saying that I've never made a mistake in my life, actually I did a lot. But I learned from them, I try not repeat the same mistake twice. You can also take examples of other people's mistakes. The news is actually a good source of people's mistakes.

Oh God, now I've become a rambling, babbling, nagging grandmother. Not grandmother, not yet, mother maybe.

By the way, I will be discharged from the hospital today. Yippee! I didn't have to bribe the good doctor anyway. Anyway, I don't know where have two pieces of my backbone gone, they replaced them with super titanium clips, so now, I'm nearly 0.3% a cyborg. Yippee again! I just hope that the scanner at the airport doesn't go buzz when I get thru it.

First batch engineering UIA..

liza muses:

At these particular times of sleeping, eating, resting.. err practically doing nothing.. I got to thinking. It's been quiet a while since I contact my dear dear friends from UIA, especially 1st batch engineering. Maybe this illness of mine is a time given by Allah so that I would reflect all those good moments together.

I remember at one time when The X Files was a rage, we; the 1st batch girls; me, Zura, Ijan, Yatie, Azie, and sometimes Tuti, Julaiha, Juliana, Kin Kon (sorry hehe!), Farah, Ikin, Hamna, Shireen, Zahra (our only Iranian gang member); would take out tools; screw driver, hammer, etc; and pried open the TV room door just to be able to watch Mulder and Scully. We even made a makeshift alarm system (ijan with her slippers) so that we'll know if anybody especially the guards came for a check. Engineering girls...what do you expect?

One other time, we managed to scare Mazlan (the horrible guard) out of his skin by wearing our telekung tops and pretend we were ghosts. We didn't mean to actually, it was 4am and we were supposed to attend a night time jemaah prayer (qiammullail) at the campus, but Mazlan would not open the gate, so.. you know then what happened. Hilarious actually, we saw him ducking under his desk!

Ok girls, my friends.. I really miss you. I know we don't have much free time now, what with the kids, job and all. But I suppose we can work out something for old times sake. What do you think?

Baking my butt

liza muses:

I'm still in the hospital. No sign I'll be coming home soon. The doc was kind of reluctant when I asked to be discharged this morning. Think maybe I need to bribe the good doctor just to be allowed to go home..haha!

My other half (darling hubby, aeab) is busy, busy, busy, so I have to make do with other activities today. I snooped out of my 4mx4m cell at about 10 am today, and got lost for about an hour window shopping in the only convenience shop at the hospital lobby. Just imagine what my life would be like if not for the shop. I only snapped out of my shoppaholic state when I received a call from the nurses' station. It was time for my therapy. Oh god... now here I am, baking my butt under the infra-red lamp.Hmm.. 20 minutes more to go.

Anyway, just read in Harian Metro Online (8 Mac 2007), that there's another case of naked pictures of a schoolgirl being distributed by somebody at her school. The pix were supposedly taken by her then boyfriend during their love frenzy. How can somebody be so stupid? Why would you want somebody to take your naked photos? You're not getting paid, most of the time you end up paying a huge sum to the photographer. Even Anna Nicole Smith (RIP) was smart enough to demand a huge payment from Playboy. Not that I'm saying I approve if you get paid, but think about it, any half stupid half smart (maybe) person would say no to that kind of photography what with the easiness of spreading them thru multiple communication channels. I would say, these kind of people are beyond stupid. No matter how much you're in love with someone, just say NO. Love can go wrong, you can fall out of love anytime. Think about it.

Cravings

liza muses:
I was just sitting doing nothing (not exactly nothing; more like trying to reach my tongue to my nose)on the hospital bed this morning when I suddenly had the cravings for boiled tapioca chunks (hot from the pot) with grated coconut plus gula melaka and a huge pot of freshly brewed black 'kopi tenom'. I can almost smell the fragrance of the coffee as though I was back at my mom-in-law's house in Putatan, Sabah. Other types of coffee I've tasted don't really have the kicks that kopi tenom has. I just couldn't stand the cravings. I had to have some right away...
I furiously made phone calls to my people (you know... my husband who else ), unfortunately.. he can only go back to our house to get some supplies of the coffee after his office hours end. For the time being I just have to continue doing what I was doing earlier (trying to reach my nose with my tongue) until my knight in shining armour arrives in 7 hours. Hmmmm...
here's a pic of the said coffee to whet your appetite!

Never mind that..
I've been here for almost a week now due to back pains, and for a week now my back has been probed, pressed, pinched, kneaded, poked with needles, electrocuted, slow-cooked (using infra-red rays)and all other kinds of tortures imaginable from the therapists but I have yet to feel any improvements. Pain not reduced, flexibility not improved, but... I admit, I do feel rested here. Like I said, there's exactly nothing to do except rest, sleep, watch tv, and the 'tortures' twice daily. Hah... I do miss kopi tenom...waaahhhhh!!!

Yesterday, Utusan Malaysia used the term 'Dalam Talian', made me smile all day.
